My ingredients of the month are Muesli and Yogurt.
1/3 cup of muesli is around 95 calories (depending on the brand and the flavor).
1/5 cup of flavored yogurt is around 45 calories
1/4 cup of plain yogurt is around 40 calories
Plain Yogurt vs Flavored Yogurt
Which one should you reach for?
- Plain Yogurt has less calories so you can use more of it. And at the same time, you can add whatever flavor you can think of that can go with it.
- Flavored Yogurt is easier to use because it already has flavor.
Preparation
For all muesli-yogurt recipes below, put your final product in the fridge for at least an hour before consumption. Letting the flavor and the moisture seep into the muesli is the most important step.
#1 Muesli and Flavored Yogurt
It's a tasty treat that looks really small but fills you up perfectly.
- Mix 1/3 cup of muesli with any 1/5 cup flavored yogurt.
#2 Muesli and Plain Yogurt + Sugar Free Jam (for flavor)
Sugar Free Jams give flavor, sweetness at 10 calories per tablespoon!
- Mix 1/3 cup of muesli with any 1/4 cup plain yogurt.
- Add 1 tbsp of sugar free jam. I use Smuckers'.
#3 Muesli and Plain Yogurt + Peanut Butter (for flavor)
As much as carb is not your diet enemy, fat isn't a villain either; as long as its within your macronutrient allowance.
- Mix 1/3 cup of muesli with any 1/4 cup plain yogurt.
- Add 1/2 tbsp Peanut Butter (I use Peter Pan's whipped, 1/3 less sugar PB because it is easier to mix and has lower calorie at 150 cals per 2 tbsp)
