Correction. I was skinny fat. Now I'm within normal/ideal fat range.
History.
It has always bothered me why almost everyone saw me as a skinny little girl when I had a significant belly, which I often strategically hide with loose clothes to keep up with the image. Nevertheless, I never stopped wining about my belly and no one understood.
Intervention.
Then came the point when my boyfriend got tired of all the "why am I so fat??" comments.
So for my birthday, he gave me a personal trainer package. It was one of the most personal, most thoughtful gift I ever received. Thank you. I love you.
Revelation.
First meeting with my personal trainer was heart breaking.
A few weeks before the event, I had my body fat percentage calculated using the detailed BMI calculator in some drug stores where you drop in a coin, stand on a plat form for weight and height, insert your wrist in a hole for blood pressure and heart rate monitor, and hold onto some magnetic bars for the water/fat test.
That 5-peso test told me I was 27% fat.
That couldn't be true.
All of my friends say I'm not fat. All of my friends say I don't have any reason to go on a diet.
So what the hell?
So first thing my personal trainer told me was to get some 15 minute cardio done. Then we had to set a reference point for my current status: that means another fat percentage test. This time, the test showed at 108 lbs, I was 28% fat.
I was literally 1/3 fat.
The Journey.
Aside from age and gender, another input in the body fat calculator is a body fat percentage goal. My trainer was nice enough to input the lowest ideal range: 17%
That translates to losing 14 lbs of fat.
As an over-achiever, of course, I made it my personal goal as well.
3 months into my journey to reach 17%, I am now half way through at 23% BF with a remaining 7 lbs of fat to lose.
