However, I got short-stopped on item #1 which is "1. Politicians". I ended up writing too much and leaving the rest of the list looking like malnourished street children beside Oprah Winfrey. So I'll just dedicate this one post to voice out my rants about the Philippine Government.
Many, if not most, Philippine government officials and politicians steal from the government. I stress "steal from the government". The government isn't only comprised of the people seated public office but is primarily "us" -- yep, that's you and me, brother. It just so happens that as a government, we need a "governing body" and that's where "they" come in.
Yeah they always tell us they're honest and all that bull but only the extremely gullible believe them (which is unfortunately a huge chunk in our demographic -- who the hell votes for someone who promises to solve poverty without presenting a platform??).
Standards in Good Governance
- Law-abidance
- Accountability
- Transparency
There is already a good set of Good Governance standards so why can't all public leaders implement that? Because...
If government representatives themselves were law-abiding citizens...
- There would be less law enforcers on motorcycles, going after vans with carriers just to "check" if they have "permits". That's because they wouldn't be on their motorcycles if they don't have helmets.
- GMA wouldn't be President because she would have stepped down when even she had to admit that she cheated her victory to presidency. "I. am. sorry." I bet you laughed your ass out after that theatric.
- Former President Erap Estrada would be in prison for plunder. Take note that he was actually found guilty of plunder.
- The Supreme Court would not have accepted Former President Erap Estrada as a 2010 presidential candidate because it's against the f*in constitution.
- The Maguindanao tragedy would not have occurred. Oh if you didn't know, MURDER is against the law.
- The Ampatuan hearing will give justice to the death of 57 Filipinos of whom 31 are journalists.
If politicians held themselves accountable for their actions...
- 90% of the law enforcement body would commit harakiri
- why are the traffic rule enforcers ONLY going after private vehicles who make logical though illegal turns because of stupid traffic rules (more on this later) instead of the smoke belching buses and jeepneys and taxi cabs? It's not your prerogative to decide who follows the law and who are above it.
- why does EVERYBODY know that the drug pusher lives down the block and goes to mall every afternoon while the police "have no leads"
- Most if not all government leaders would NOT run for reelections. Why would they when there is no apparent improvement under their reign?
If government leaders applied transparency in their governance
- The LRT system, which owes a LOT of money even though its maintenance sucks balls, would be privatized.
Those dicks up there are hoarding YOUR money so that YOU (as part of the Filipino Government) owe the capitalists money. They're NEVER going to show everyone where all the money goes because they don't want anyone to know!
- The mayor back home wouldn't have a popular fast food franchise a couple of years after he first came to office. I know for a fact that that franchise costs more that he's supposed to be earning as a mayor. Don't get me wrong. It's not that the official payslip of government officials are small -- it's just that a popular fast food franchise is THAT expensive... especially if it's located in a shopping center.
- We'd have honest-to-goodness bidding for government contracts.
seriously, do you need more?
